In 1995 a papyrus excavated by tomb-raiders appeared on the antiquities gray-market and was subsequently purchased by an Italian bank representing the University of Milan. It contained over one hundred previously unknown epigrams now attributed to the Greek epigrammatist Posidippus, who lived in Alexandria at the center of Ptolemaic Egypt. The papyrus was divided into the same ten sections that this book is now.
The remarkable survival of this papyrus is due to its abandonment. The papyrus is a cheap edition of what would have been a luxury scroll, one that was likely held in, and then lost with, the Library of Alexandria. The copy that exists today survived because it was used as scrap paper to wrap the chest of a mummy, following the standard practice of the time.
The papyrus is, as of writing, held by the University of Milan; it is known in the papyrological community as P. Mil. Vogl. VIII 309.

I have a new stopwatch I love to play with, God, it's fun! I prefer so much counting up to counting down, but I’m finding out I’m really, really slow - thirty minutes to do this, an hour and a half to do that: it’s starting to add up. The last Jews were run out of Arles in September 1494; 300 years after Samuel ibn Tibbon completed his translation of Maimonides’ “Guide of the Perplexed” in the city. In Baal HaSulam’s intro to Zohar (1943-47) he wonders: if the soul of a person is part of God themselves, only different insofar as the soul is part and God is whole, as a stone is to a mountain, and “there is no difference between stone and mountain, except that the mountain is ‘all’ and the stone is ‘part,’” then by what tool is the stone quarried from the mountain, “what is the tool that separates the soul from God[?]”

The Dialpainters
The Dialpainters presents three oil paintings by Anne. One painting is on the face of a watch. The other two circular oil paintings depict a landscape and a black 1984 Corvette. Both paintings are inserted in to the doors of two metal safes, inset into another wall.
The door of one of the safes is cast in aluminum from a linoblock cut by Anne’s mother, Mary, depicting a clam digging scene. The other safe door bears an inscription of the holding company. In a nearby wall niche, lie a pair of gloves which, using RFID tags, act as keys. Each glove opens only one safe.
The video opens with a scene of actress Laurie and her granddaughter Vanessa in Laurie’s Corvette, recounting an episode in which Laurie’s visage was stolen after she responded to a classified ad for a jewelry model. Her images were used to create a viral Instagram account named Gran Holly. Another scene in the video shows a quiet afternoon moment in which Laurie cares for her own mother, Mona Lisa, who is re-learning to walk.
